Appliqué methods

If you have chosen to add a border to your EPP quilt, you must choose a method with which to attach it. Most of the projects in this book use a machine top stitch to secure the EPP top to the fabric border, the edge of which has been tucked underneath to give an adequate seam allowance. If your EPP pattern has seam tails from when the fabric was basted onto the template, be sure to tuck them under the completed top and press them into place securely, so that they don’t pop out as you appliqué. You can also use one of the stitches on your sewing machine to appliqué the EPP top to the border. A blanket stitch may work, but avoid a zigzag stitch because it may distort your border fabric and become too bulky.
